The Carter Dalton Quinn Charitable Trust

A small private foundation supporting primarily Massachusetts
nonprofit and educational organization
s.
PO Box 7
Lincoln, MA 01773
CDQTrust@gmail.com

The CDQ is a small, private foundation that provides funding primarily within Massachusetts. We do not support organizations headquartered outside of the US.A. Regrettably, by law, this foundation cannot make grants to individuals nor to organizations that are not IRS certified non-profits (501c3).

The CDQ Mission has been revised in order to clarify our mission and focus for applicants.
Our mission, originally based in Buddhist values, includes the following 3 Values: Peace, The Environment and Education. These are, by themselves, very broad, so you will find examples that illustrate the CDQ's interest areas within each description below. Applicants should consider how closely their project aligns with at least one of these examples and one or more of the 3 Values before sending a query or requesting an application.

➡️PEACE,
which includes things like: Improvement in/Fostering: Personal or Interpersonal Peace, Cross-cultural Awareness, Understanding, or Harmony toward greater peace, Emotional Intelligence and/or Healing, Compassion, etc., which builds peace within and within the community.

➡️THE ENVIRONMENT/ECOLOGY, which may include: Fostering Harmony between People and the Natural World; Developing Strategies/Programs for Addressing Environmental Threats, such as Climate Change, and other elements of Environmental Protection/Preservation; Sustainability (in terms of Natural Resources), etc.

➡️EDUCATION related to the first 2 Values, such as programs/projects in schools or adult/continuing ed., prisons, after-school or summer programs, etc. that Foster Interpersonal, Cross-cultural, or Environmental Awareness/Understanding, Teach/Increase a targeted population's Awareness in Environmental Protection, the Balance of Nature, Emotional Intelligence, Social-Emotional Education, or Climate Change; Teaching How to Develop Strategies and/or relevant Skills in one of the areas of Peace or The Environment, such as Emotional Well-being, Compassion, Self-Compassion, Self-Esteem, Emotional Regulation, Cooperation, Environmental Protection, Preservation, Sustainability, etc.

The CDQ is especially interested in projects with an environmental focus at this time.
If you have a
project to help protect/sustain the natural environmental, or educate about environmental issues, and you are located in Massachusetts, please let us know!

Please note that CDQ is not an arts-focused organization; the above three areas must be the primary area of
organizations and projects proposed.

If you have a project and you think it might fit within one of these 3 Values, along the lines of the examples, but you aren't sure, feel free to reach out with a short email about your project, and consider sending your phone number if the trustee might like to discuss it with you.

Always send a query first; never send an application. The CDQ has it's own application process. Unsolicited applications received by mail are usually discarded unopened. Emails over a page long may also be ignored.

Please explore this website ( 3 more pages!) for more information about this family foundation and about grant writing.
